Game of Thrones fever isn’t ready to leave fans anytime soon. That’s perhaps because the season ended on a not-so-satisfying note, and fans were left unimpressed with the final season.
Thus, the announcement of the prequel series brought some relief to the fans. Set thousands of years before the events of the mainline show, HBO is going hard putting together a Game of Thrones spinoff. r/freefolk/comments/87xeok/leaked_images_from_the_set_of_season_8/
It was revealed that the prequel show, Bloodmoon, is reportedly heading to North Ireland for shooting for its first season. Surely, the show will take place in an all different Westeros that it appears like some mighty creatures could become a prominent part of the story. No, they are not dragons this time.
Thanks to the set photos leaked online for giving hints as though mammoths might play a significant role in this prequel, more than they did in the main show. In the shared photos, signboards with an illustration of a mammoth can be seen stuck to posts. Besides, photos of the sets under construction too have been shared online. These photos have been shared by a Twitter handle BloodmoonIRL. Check out the photos below –
Bloodmoon, the Game of Thrones prequel, takes place thousands of years before the events of Game of Thrones, and mammoths are associated mainly with the eras of the cavemen and dinosaurs, it is worth mentioning that these creatures actually showed up in the original series. Featured as an associate of the giants and the Free Folk in the episode named “The Watchers on the Wall,” a mammoth was seen trying to break down the doors of the Castle Black.
While mammoths aren’t new to Martin’s world of Game of Thrones, these leaked photos seem to indicate that they could be playing an important part of this older period.
While not much is revealed yet about the prequel’s plot, we do know that it is set around thousands of years before the recently concluded season of Game of Thrones. The new prequel show is reportedly written by Jane Goldman and is set to explore the history of Westeros and reveal the back story of the White Walkers.
Speaking about the prequel show, Naomi Watts told that she feels intimidated. She said –
“It is intimidating. It’s very exciting having just come off the last series, where the world was blowing up over it. Everything was Game of Thrones related. All the advertising on TV, every article – everyone’s jumping on that bandwagon. So, it is scary.”
She added –
“Hopefully, those fans come along and get to find something new and interesting in this world as well. I think they won’t be let down; it’s a great team of people they’ve put together.”
